A new year and a new subject: over Christmas we had been walking near Kirby Quay, somewhere I have known for ever, and now I have been returning there to make drawings. There are a few prominent buildings at the quay and I have been looking at how I might make something of these.
I have also been walking out onto the seawall and saltings beyond the quay, drawing the patterns of the saltings and big clouds.
It has been a slow start and, as always with something new, it feels like a slight betrayal some of the things that the previous paintings had been about. But it is good heading out with a sense of discovering something new. These are some of the recent drawings.
