This weekend was the opening of @PaintBritain, the exhibition I have curated for Ipswich Museums at Ipswich Art School Gallery. The exhibition showcases the work of 45 contemporary painters and is displayed across five galleries and the impressive two storey gallery atrium. There are a further two galleries of 20th century work that I have selected from the Ipswich Borough Council Collection. The exhibition was formally opened by the mayor of Ipswich on Friday evening and on Saturday afternoon there was a large gathering of artists and friends. It was nice to hear the buzz of artists meeting up, some who previously knew each other only from social media. I was enjoying chatting to everyone too much to take many photographs so these only show a fraction of the work on display. Thanks to all the artists, museum staff and friends who made the opening weekend such an enjoyable time and a great success.
